What a fantastic day it was in Santo Domingo, as two busloads of excited and eager youngsters from the Manny Mota International Foundation in El Tamarindo got the thrill of visiting Estadio Quisqueya, the main professional baseball stadium in the Dominican Republic. The group, hosted by the generosity of Yankees star Alex Rodriguez (ARod), had a chance to experience something that for most of them was a first, due to the limited resources and opportunities at their disposal. They were treated to box seats, transportation, and a delicious meal. We, at Motas Faces are extremely grateful not only to ARod, but also to the assistance of "abuelo" Manny and "abuela" Margarita, who lended a hand in selecting the group and also prepared them for the experience of a lifetime. The game itself was a thrilling match as the historied rivalry between Licey and Escogido electrified the stadium during this crucial round-robin playoff. They got to witness Licey, Manny Mota's former team, clinch a spot for the Dominican League finals. Perhaps someday, a few of these talented youngsters could be the ones wearing the pro uniform and proudly remembering that day when the generosity of people who cared for them, allowed them to dream bigger.
